The Estes Viking is one fantastic research rocket with 48 possible different fin configurations! This kit gives you five special die cut card stock fins that allow you to create a rocket that's a truly unique rocket of your own design! Take your pick on how you want your rocket to look; fins up, fins down or fins whatever way. You call it, it's your day to be the rocket designer! Customize your own rocket...no matter how you place the fins, it still offers the ultimate in high performance model rocket flight! This Skill Level 1 rocket kit includes a single piece body tube, molded nose cone and self-stick decals. This rocket is just over 12 inches tall. When flown on standard engines, the Viking is able to reach amazing launch heights over 1650 feet and land safely with its bright orange streamer. The versatile Viking can be built in an afternoon. It's a great high altitude rocket for beginners, class projects, clubs and rocket demonstrations. Tools, construction and finishing supplies sold separately. In order to launch, a launch system, model rocket engines, igniters and recovery wadding are required - sold separately. This bulk pack contains 12 rockets per pack, complete with 12 sets of instructions and extra parts.

These were purchased for a scouting group to take on a campout. Easy to build, easy to launch. Great fun for all.

The best pack meeting ever! These rockets went so fast that A series engines were great, B6-4s made them soar almost too high, but we recovered every rocket in re-useable condition. C engines made recovery almost impossible and a few boys used them and it was quite a wait for someone to sight their streamer! Awesome rockets at awesome prices!

We use this as a first rocket project for our basic high-school physics class. It is a very flexible design that still works well even if small mistakes are made in construction. The multiple fin designs allow for some individual choices and comparisons between rockets. It is easy to build in one lab period.

I purchased these rockets for a cub scout pack and they worked out great. It took a little more handwork than say the Alpha III kit which was great because while we had the Tiger & Wolf cubs (1st & 2nd graders) and their dads work on the Alphas, the Bears and Webelos (3rd-5th) worked on the Wizard kits. They were all great fun!

I use these for rocketry education for 5th graders. These are fairly easy to build for younger kids. I recommend purchasing some cyanoacrylate glue to do the fins, which are heavy tagboard instead of balsa. This is a fun project for kids and you!
Unfortunately, my principal is an administrator first instead of an educator (think of the boss from the movie "Office Space"). He about had a heart attack when we launched these and forbade me to do rockets again. I feel bad for my students.
